The Apprentice
March 4, 2007Something's definitely wrong with the image above haha…
You might wonder why the hell all the images in this blog are anime and why the hell all of them are girls even though I'm a guy and where the hell do I get them. Well, you could say I'm an anime otaku to answer the first question. As for the second question, it's really rare to find male images from my source and as for the source, it's definitely NSFW so I'm not giving it away. Anyway on to the post…
The Apprentice
living out a dream…I hope
Err…something's definitely wrong with my image finding skills today as the image to the left seems quite a bit inappropriate with all the pink shades and the flowers…haha
Anyway, the freelance illutration business is really something eh?
I went to my cousin today, who was a freelance artist, to ask wether he could help me get into the freelance illustration industry after my failure at getting into the call center business (and realized that conversing is not really my thing..hehe). This industry is really something. I mean you get paid 15 to 60 pesos for a single drawing. Seems easy right? Not! This industry will test out your perseverance and patience to its limit. Why? People in this industry are given the "folder" each folder composing of paper several inches thick and they'll have to draw on all of those sheet of papers while meeting deadlines. That's one heck of a thick pile of paper, I think it's about 300 sheets all in all but if you look at it the rewards are very rewarding indeed. Even at 20 pesos per sheet, with 300 sheets of paper, that'll amount to 6,000 pesos all in all just for one folder which they can and "must" finish within 3 days to a week.
I can confidently say that I'm above average when it comes to drawing abilities so working in this industry will be a fun experience. Good thing my cousin asked me if I'm interested in working as a freelance artist. I went to his house today to ask on the details and, later, was asked to draw anything so that he could see the standard of my drawing. At first it felt awkward being asked to draw something and be judged but I manage to draw something decent. He eventually did the finishing touches on my drawing though and that let me realize the difference between an amateur like me and someone who draw for a living in a positive way. He said I needed some fine-tuning to increase my chance of getting into this industry that's why I'm now assisting my cousin on his work. Hopefully by April I have acquired the skill to enter as an independent artist working on my own folder rather than an assistant.
Wish me luck!

Kanon Overload
too much of something, is too much
The story of sad girls on snow is hitting me full in the heart leaving a mark of melancholy.
No anime series has left me at the brink of crying more than once except Kanon. Now with two more episode to go before this wonderfully remade series ends, I'm at the brink again with Ayu and Nayuki's arcs. Storywise and artwise, Kanon excels in both departments bringing together the beautiful but sad stories of the girls, and top-notch animation quality.
I'm now in the process of playing the original Kanon visual novel now that the anime series is at its concluding stage.
